Step One: RESEARCH (Individual)
Your first step is to research the Triangle Shirtwaist factory fire that took place in 1911 using the following resources:

1. Go to the following website and read about the basics of this American tragedy...http://trianglefire.info/win.html .
Make sure you click on each tab on the left to get all the details needed for this assignment.
2. Watch the PBS: American Experience video of the Triangle Shritwaist Fire found at the above address (:51).
3. Write down 7-10 of the most important details about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire for future use.
Step Two: PRESENTATION (Group)
The next step of your webquest is to put together a presentation of your choice detailing the Triangle Shritwaist factory fire (PowerPoint, Prezi, Movie Maker, etc). Your presentation should include the background, the fire, and the aftermath as well as pictures to illustrate the events. Also discuss the changes that took affect due to the fire.
You must be prepared to discuss the information you include in your presentation. Your presentation should be no longer than five minutes in length, but should include all relevant details.
Group Roles:
1. Group Leader: Group member responsible for making sure the group meets deadlines and maintains an effective
pace during groupwork time. This is the person responsible for submitting all assignments part of this project.
2. Information Specalists: These group members are responsible for collecting information necessary for inclusion in
the presentation.
3. Multimedia Specialist: This is the person in the group responsible for determining the appropriate presentation type
to be used for your group's presentation. They are also responsible for selecting pictures to be used.
4. Presentation Team: These group members are responsible for putting together the group's presentation along with
the imput from other group members. These members are also in charge of any oral presentation necessary in this
project.
Step Three: APPLICATION (Group)
The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire brought many changes to the workplace in America. The final step of your webquest is to compare the conditions of the workers in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory to the conditions of students at the Moberly Middle School.
1. Create a chart (three-column chart, venn diagram, etc) that compares and contrasts the conditions of the
workers at the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory to the conditions of the students at the Moberly Middle School.
2. Write a letter to our principal identifying your concerns about the conditions/safety of students at the Moberly
Middle School. Your letter should address specific (and serious) issues you believe need addressed that
would improve student safety and/or "working conditions". You must be realistic in your request.
